30 years of supporting families in the Winchester district who are facing adversity, helping them to embrace their future with confidence.
In our 30th year, we have challenged ourselves to raise £30,000 by our birthday on 7 November and we need your help.
Introducing Wellness Walks
The link between exercise and wellness is well known, and good mental health is at the heart of our mission at Friends of the Family. Our team were inspired to create their own Wellness Walks to help reach our fundraising goal, and walked through the summer in our amazing city and countryside!
3 ways we walked for wellbeing (and are still walking!)…
Winchester Wellness Walk
Friends of the Family staff kicked off our walking by leading a Winchester Wellness Walk on Wednesday 26 July. It was a very enjoyable gentle route around Winchester with great views from St Giles Hill and ice creams at the end! We were pleased to be joined by some of our volunteers and the children they support.
30 on Thursday
Every Thursday at 9am from 6 July 2023 to 25 January 2024, our trustees, Nicky and Locket walked up St Catherine’s Hill. They clocked up some serious mileage and step counts!
30 climbs on 30 September
Jo (Operations Manager) and Rebecca (Trustee) took on our biggest challenge yet on 30 September – planning to walk up St Catherine’s Hill 30 times that day.
Joined by friends, followers and dogs they clocked up way over their intended number of climbs, managing 76 climbs in total!

While the emphasis is on wellness, we are linking our walks to fundraising: £30k for 30 years. Anything that you can do towards that would be really appreciated, whether it’s pence or pounds. Maybe you could be sponsored per mile or per walk, or for how many hills you climb – Winchester has plenty!
