30 for 30

£30k for 30 years

30 years of supporting families in the Winchester district who are facing adversity, helping them to embrace their future with confidence.

In our 30th year, we have challenged ourselves to raise £30,000 by our birthday on 7 November and we need your help.

Introducing Wellness Walks

The link between exercise and wellness is well known, and good mental health is at the heart of our mission at Friends of the Family. Our team have been inspired to create their own Wellness Walks to help reach our fundraising goal. We are planning to walk through the summer and would love you to join us. There’s something for all abilities!

3 ways to walk to wellbeing with us

Winchester Wellness Walk

Friends of the Family staff will be kicking it off by leading a Winchester Wellness Walk on Wednesday 26 July. It will be a gentle route of around 2km and easily achievable, especially with the incentive of great views from St Giles Hill and ice creams at the end!

Want to join us? Just let us know by email: fundraising@fotfwinchester.org

30 on Thursday

Every Thursday at 9am from 6 July 2023 to 25 January 2024, you will find our trustees, Nicky and Locket walking up St Catherine’s Hill.

They would love some company!

Want to join them? Meet 9am at the Handlebar café. Just turn up!

30 climbs on 30 September

Jo and Rebecca will be taking on perhaps our biggest challenge yet o30 September – walking up St Catherine’s Hill 30 times that day.

Join them on one of more of their ascents, or simply pop along to cheer them on! Head to the bottom of St Catherine’s Hill any time from 10am and join the fun!

Make your own summer of walking

To help you carry on walking through the summer, we have compiled a list of other short walks (and slightly longer walks) around Winchester. Click here to take your pick!

While the emphasis is on wellness, we are linking our summer of walking to fundraising: £30k for 30 years. Anything that you can do towards that would be really appreciated, whether it’s pence or pounds. Maybe you could be sponsored per mile or per walk, or for how many hills you climb – Winchester has plenty!

Let us know what you plan to do. Share your photos and your mileage, not matter how short or long your Wellness Walk is – we’ll add it to the Friends of the Family mileometer! Let’s see how many miles we can cover between us over the summer holiday.

If walking’s not your thing…

Don’t worry, you can still get involved. Here’s how:

Simply donate

Help us to carry on for another 30 years. All donations, no matter how small or large are very much appreciated.

Help us make a positive difference to the children and parents we work with. Any donations you can help us raise are vital for continuing the support we offer to families in Winchester and its surrounding villages.

£3 provides healthy, nutritious snacks for the children in one session of our Mums and Young Children group

£10 provides training materials for one 5s to 13s befriender

£30 will enable a child to experience new activities and opportunities during our summer outing
