Volunteers are crucial to our work. They constitute almost 90% of our workforce. They represent a variety of ages, skills and life experiences, but all share a common commitment to improving the lives of local children and families.
Volunteer with us. Your involvement and friendship can make a real difference.
What can I do?
Help support our twice-weekly mums and young children group: welcoming mums, preparing refreshments, and playing with the children. Learn more about the Volunteer Play/Refreshment Worker role
Offer your support to a child aged 5 to 13 years and their family. Volunteer befrienders spend two hours a week working with an individual child in the familiarity of their own environment to build confidence and together tackle challenges they are facing
Get involved with how the charity is run, fundraising and much more. We welcome interest from potential trustees
"I wanted to develop skills outside my career; do something fulfilling in my spare time and get more involved with the community. The training helps you focus on how you can approach the problems that families face."
"The atmosphere changes in the house when our befriender arrives. We all love her visits; they make us feel calmer and happier."
"Friends of the Family provided me with a routine that enabled me to leave the house and interact with people. They encouraged me to talk about my problems and I realised that I wasn’t on my own."
