Keep Calm and Decorate Cakes!
On Thursday 10th March the 5s to 13s focus children were invited to a cake decorating workshop at the Salvation Army Hall. This was one of the largest workshop we have had with fifteen children and eighteen befrienders spending a wonderful afternoon decorating cupcakes to take home to share with their families.
The children were provided with a huge array of sprinkles, toppings, buttercream in piping bag, coloured icing tubes, sweets and confectionary galore to create their beautiful masterpieces and cake boxes that they could personalise to transport their cupcakes home safely.
After partaking in a delicious picnic tea with their new friends, the children were also invited to choose from a range of books and activities that they could take home which had been donated to the charity.
A volunteer befriender said “This was such a great fun workshop, so good to be able to run it again. My focus child thoroughly enjoyed it and was glad to be able to take some books and activities back for her family. She told me later that they had had fun making fridge magnets from a kit. I can’t imagine what clearing up the hall was like! Thank you to Sam and helpers for all the preparation and hard work!”
