Farmyard Frolics!

In 5 to 13 year olds, News and events

On Wednesday 16th September, Walnut Tree Farm opened its gates once again to the 5s to 13s focus children to meet and greet the menagerie of animals that live there.

The children and their befrienders who came were introduced to the different creatures by their owner Paula Baker. The children were allowed to hold the chickens, feed the goats and sheep, collect peacock feathers and stroke the horses. They were also introduced to the newest additions to the farm, Ethel and Stan the emus!

The children and volunteers enjoyed being outside in the beautiful autumn sunshine having this incredible up close and personal, hands on experience.

At the end of the session the children were asked what their favourite thing was and they all agreed that having the chance to hold the chickens was the best. The volunteers however thought that Wallace the goat escorting us around the farm, photo bombing at every opportunity was the cutest!

We hope to visit the farm again in the spring when hopefully there will be some new little additions in the form of baby goats as one of the goats is expecting!
