Vivienne Wheeler

1948-2023

Viv joined Friends of the Family in 2011 and within 3 months was the Chair to the charity which was in a precarious financial situation.  She, with the small board of Trustees, secured funding to ensure the Charities immediate future.  On this foundation she was instrumental in securing a 5 year grant from the Big Lottery for the 5-13s service, ensuring financial stability to allow the service to grow.

This is indicative of Viv, she quietly worked hard, taking on responsibility, building relationships and believing in the work we do to help 100’s of children and families in the Winchester district.

She was valued by her fellow Trustees for her selflessness and dedication.  When she handed over the Chair to me in 2019, she was always on hand to be a sounding board, support and font of all knowledge.  For which I will always be very grateful.

I was delighted to see her contribution to the charity and the community recognised with a High Sheriff Award in 2017.

Viv retired from Friends of the Family in April 2022 and continued to support the activities of the charity until she was taken ill at the end of 2022.

We will all miss her.
