Painting Workshop

In 5 to 13 year olds, News and events

Focus children and volunteers from the 5s to 13s Befriending service were invited to unleash their inner creativity and join a painting workshop on Wednesday 5th February.

Everyone was provided with a selection of different sized canvases to choose from and after a quick demonstration of the water, sponge, paint, palette, canvas technique, a hush descended over the room and the creative juices began to flow.
Both the children and adults were totally absorbed in their own paintings but took the time to talk to their neighbours and complement each other’s efforts. The range of artwork produced was wonderful and diverse and several children completed more than one canvas in the time available.

One child said, “This has made me really happy, I love the background colours i chose for my dream painting, they make me feel calm.”
Some volunteers were reticent to have a go, Rebecca said “I am a bit nervous as I am not good at this kind of thing!” However, at the end of the session she was pleased with her woodland painting said “I really enjoyed that!”
