Shetland Pony Play!

On a super sunny afternoon in May the children and befrienders from the 5s to 13s Befriending service were invited to come and meet five gorgeous Shetland ponies belonging to Sharon and Angela.

The children and adults were introduced to Dave, Dudley, Dexter, Nutty and Jack and shown how to groom and care for them. The children got up close and personal with the ponies and learnt about their different backgrounds and personalities before taking the ponies for a walk around the beautiful meadow. Some children also felt confident to engage in some trotting exercises with the ponies in the training paddock.

The children and ponies thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it was wonderful to see how the children’s confidence grew around the animals as the afternoon progressed.
