Press Release: Friends of the Family welcomes five new volunteers

 In Media

Friends of the Family has welcomed five new volunteers to its befriending team after they all successfully completed the charity’s two-day training course last month. The new recruits will soon be spending two hours a week offering support and friendship to a child, aged between 5 and 13, and the child’s family.

New volunteer David, who also volunteers with the charity’s Mums and Under 5s Group, said: “I am here because I love being with children. I have a great relationship with my grandchildren and I can see how spending quality time with them on a one-to-one basis can benefit them.”

The course is run by Sam Hunt, 5s to 13s Befriending Manager, who said: “I was so impressed with the high calibre of volunteers who completed our October training programme. They are a very welcome addition to our team and I am sure that their regular support will have a positive impact on the lives of local children and families in need of support.”

Friends of the Family will be running its next befriender training course in February 2018. To find out more please contact Lisa Travers, Volunteer Recruitment Co-ordinator, email lisa@fotfwinchester.org or call 01962 864466.
