Six new volunteers join the 5s to 13s Befriending team

Six new volunteers have joined the 5s to13s befriending team having completed their two day training programme.

The volunteers participated in discussions and exercises over the two days training to help them understand the befriending role. They covered topics such as confidentiality, boundaries, safeguarding and had the opportunity to participate in an active listening and communication workshop led by emotional and well-being consultant, Kevin Knight.

Sam Hunt, 5s to 13s Befriending Manager said “We are so pleased to welcome these new volunteers to the team. The support and friendship that will be able to offer to a local child will be invaluable. We really appreciate the commitment that they are able to make to this role.”

The volunteers will be matched to and support a local child for two hours a week for a period of 12 months.
