PRESS RELEASE: Charity says ‘Thank you’ to volunteers at special lunch

Friends of the Family volunteers gathered in the gardens of the Quaker Meeting House, Winchester, on 10 June for a special volunteer thank you lunch which also marked the end of Volunteers’ Week.

The annual lunch is an opportunity to shine a light on the incredible work of the charity’s trustees, play workers and befrienders and to thank them for the support they give to families and children across the Winchester district.

The event also marked the retirement of former Chair, Viv Wheeler, who is stepping down from the Board of Trustees after almost 10 years.

Commenting on the event, Karen Hazlitt, Chair of Trustees, said: “I am thrilled that we have been able to meet up with friends, old and new, today and to say ‘thank you’ in person for the amazing support that we receive from our volunteers. Your hard work, enthusiasm and commitment to your role is hugely appreciated.

I’d also like to say a special thank you to Viv Wheeler who is retiring as a trustee. Viv was a fabulous Chair and has been an incredible fundraiser for Friends of the Family. She will be hugely missed but we wish her a very happy retirement.”
