 In News and events

On Sunday 22nd August the Mayor of Winchester Vivian Achwal held a fundraising BBQ to help raise funds for her three chosen charities: Friends of the Family, Winchester Youth Counselling and Eight Foundation.

The event was held in a beautiful private garden in Droxford, where the 50 plus guests were treated to an array of wonderful live music, provided by the amazing Denmead Brass Band, whilst enjoying delicious BBQ food and salads served by the Meon Valley Lions volunteers. The Mayor who is an experienced trumpet player herself, also played with the band.

The event raised £950 which will go towards the Mayor’s aim of raising £40,000 over her year in office for her three chosen charities.

Sam Hunt, who attended the event on behalf of Friends of the Family, said “It was such a lovely afternoon in a beautiful setting. The Denmead Brass Band sounded amazing and the BBQ food delicious! Friends of the Family are so grateful to the Mayor and everyone who contributed this event both in front and behind the scenes.”
