Swimming Success!
Friends of the Famly wishes to say a very big thank you to Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club for providing a term of free swimming lessons to seven children from our 5s to 13s Befriending group. Two of the younger focus children were found spaces in Saturday afternoon sessions but due to the age of the five older girls a new group specifically for them was set up for them on a Monday evening at Kings School swimming pool. All the the children were provided with a swimming hat and were enrolled in the club free of charge.
James Swatton, Lessons Manager with WCPSC said “I am delighted to hear how successful the lessons have been this term. I think, for Monday’s session specifically, it has really been a great help for them to have their own designated group, as the peer support has been invaluable.”
Sam Hunt, 5s to 13s Befriending Manager said “This has been a fantastic opportunity for some of our children to learn such a valuable life skill for free. The children have have made excellent progress over the eleven weeks and their confidence in the water has increased immensly through the specific teaching they have received from the WCPSC swim teachers. We cannot thank them and the Penguins Swim Club enough for the kindness and support.”
A focus child’s parent said ” I am so proud of my daughter’s achievements during the lessons and how she is now actually swimming unaided! I could not have afforded to pay for the lessons so this has been absolutely brilliant! Thank you!”
