Therapeutic Art and Well-Being Workshop
On Thursday 27th April 12 staff and volunteers participated in a Therapeutic Art workshop and get together at the Salvation Army Hall.
Art therapist, Joan Jarrett, led a stimulating and engaging session. She provided the volunteers with the opportunity to try out a range of therapeutic art and craft activities including Mindfulness Doodling, threading Breathe Beads and identifying their own personal strengths and attributes to create their own Strength Shields. They were also given a comprehensive Toolkit of lots of other therapeutic art and craft ideas that they can now use with the children they support.
The volunteers also enjoyed an evening meal of chilli, rice and nachos followed by fruit and chocolate.
One volunteer said ” The session was fantastic! The the speaker was excellent, so informative and I learnt a lot. I am really looking forward to using the ideas with my focus child. The food was also delicious thank you!”
