Ready Steady Cook Curry!
The 5s to 13s focus children and their befrienders have had a five fantastic Tuesdays engaging in a cooking sessions with Mary Needham from Munch CIC. During theses sessions Mary has provided a range of wonderful healthy ingredients and delicious recipes that the children and adults have used to produce dishes to take home to their families.
Over the five weeks the children have built up their peeling, chopping, dicing, and grating skills to be able to conclude with a Ready Steady Cook Curry in the last week. During this session Mary provided a basic curry recipe for the children to follow but encouraged them to choose whatever ingredients they liked from the wonderful array that she had provided on the table! The children got to work quickly and soon the room was filled with the delicious aromas of cumin, coriander and garam masala! Once all the curry creations were completed, we all sat together to eat them with rice, naan bread and poppadums!
Sam Hunt said “These cooking sessions have been a fantastic opportunity for our focus children. It has been lovely to see them develop their culinary skills over the five weeks and I have been so impressed by the way children have grown in confidence trying out new vegetables and flavours each week. We cannot thank Mary enough for this amazing opportunity and we hope she can offer us more sessions later in the year!”
