Meet the Ponies

Rowhay Farm near Owslebury very kindly opened its doors this summer to give 6 of our focus children the chance to meet, greet, groom and ride the ponies that are stabled there.

Izzy, our instructor for the 2hr sessions introduced the ponies to the children and demonstrated how to groom them. The children were then given brushes and combs and the chance to get hands on themslves! They were then shown how to tack up the ponies before being given the opportunity to lead the horses into the school and get to ride them!

Sam Hunt said “This has been a wonderful experience for the children. Some were obviously nervous to be so close to such large animals but it has been incredible seeing how they have relaxed and become more confident throughout the experience. The horses have been so intuitive and the children have got so much out of being so close and hands on with such gentle creatures. We look forward to repeating the sessions in the autumn.

One focus child said “I love the horses, they are so gentle and kind to me, I really want to do this again!”
